some like it organic...

Today I went to buy groceries and I decided to try some organic things. The grocery company that I work for recently came out with their own line of organic foods that have gotten some pretty good reviews. So I'm trying out the eggs, milk, lemonade and some produce items. This is my first go at organic food...my sister and mother did it for a while and they liked it so I figure I might as well! In Uganda (it's in Africa, folks) we grow everything naturally and it's more expensive to buy things that are genetically enhanced or have preservatives, etc....and over here no one grows food naturally and it's more expensive to get it that way. Oh so silly! I'm one of those guys that doesn't really go grocery shopping very much and so when I do it's always a big order. I bought 92 items for a grand total of just over $200. Today I also paid my $150 cell phone bill (i talk to a lot of people in colorado, new york, indiana...oh, and england) and I put down $600 for my monthly car payment. Yowza.

taxi-cab confessions...

Ok, I have to start this one off by saying that I got into a major near-fatal car accident about a month and a half ago where I was in a coma for 9 hours and they had to pry the roof off to get me out and I was out for two weeks and yada yada yada...so the point is I have no car. Now, I work about 20 miles from home. So when I have to go to work at odd hours, I have to take a taxi. This past Sunday I called a taxi in the morning (around 8) and the driver was actually ASLEEP throughout the entire drive. I'm talking snoring and eyes half closed and head tilted back and all. He was swerving back and forth between lanes of traffic and only the honks from other cars kept him awake. I was almost late and I didn't want to complicate things by getting out and calling another cab. But it was very uncomfortable what with the whole him-almost-killing-both-of-us thing going on. Very strange indeed. So everyday this week I have to take a taxi to work...hopefully It'll be me that's more close to sleep instead of the driver but who knows! That's going to be lots of fun I'm sure, and speaking of which I have to go get some sleep soon if I even want to be up in time to make the call...

i'm back, baby!

So I'm back from a rousing Thanksgiving weekend! And by "rousing" I mean I've been sick since last Wednesday and have had to stay in bed (when I'm not working) for pretty much every day since then. But no matter! I'm alright now. The Colts are flying high and I'm pretty happy about that...and Eli Manning is having his growing pains over in New York but that's ok! Anyway, I've got plenty to blog about...

happy turkey day!

I hope everyone who is celebrating Thanksgiving out there has a great one! I'll have my hands full with family and work but I might sneak a peak here when I get the chance. It's getting late now and I have to go back to work in about 4 hours so I hope you have a great weekend!

a post about nothing...

So today I actually pretty much did nothing. I mean, it was my day off and I kinda needed a day to lax around and I'm happy to say I took full advantage of it. I finally watched the second part of the british comedy The Office's christmas party special and I loved the way they ended the series, it really was perfect. Speaking about "nothing" and comedic television, Seinfeld comes out on DVD tomorrow! I really got into this show and I just like to mention that Larry David is hilarious. He was pretty much unknown as the force behind the series until he created his own show, Curb your Enthusiasm (third season release in January, can't wait!), on HBO a few years ago. Now he's just less unknown. Between finishing the first seasons of Arrested Development, Home Movies, and now the first 3 seasons of Seinfeld, I don't know if I'll have time to fit in work and life. But I will give it my best shot! Now if only Scrubs came out on DVD...

So last week Ireland was named the best place to live in the world, according to a "quality of life" assessment by Economist magazine. Ireland was followed by Switzerland, Norway and Luxembourg. All but one of the top 10 were European countries (Australia -6th). The USA languished in 13th, while Britain was 29th. Ouch. Posted by Hello

Ok, this is the last bit I do with cars that resemble things. I wonder how fast this one goes? Posted by Hello

This one's for you, Soaring, it was the only other one I could find. It was hard to find one that was the perfect fit! haha! You'll probably wear these out with all the miles you put on them! haha! Alright, I'll stop now... Posted by Hello

big words on tv...

So flipping past the TV Guide channel today I caught a glimpse of the synopsis to "As Good As It Gets" (Jack Nicholson movie)...it read: "Comedy about a curmudgeon's relationships". I was like...huh? I didn't know you were allowed to use big words on tv...especially on the tv guide channel. To be completely honest, I had no clue what curmudgeon meant at the time. So I looked it up....and this is what I got: "Curmudgeon, n. : a crusty irascible cantankerous old person full of stubborn ideas". I have no problem with the meaning of any of these words but I'd wager my life on most Americans maybe understanding what "crusty" and "old" mean and using these context clues, figure out the rest. Just maybe. I mean, what is the world coming to when I use the word "petulant" in everday conversation and people look at me like I'm speaking latin...? I think we really need to aggrandize our diminutive and heinous phraseology. Just kidding.

gone with the fog...

Oh yes, almost forgot. Last night when Mike was driving me home (I hung out with him and his girl after work) it was a bit foggy out. He seemed a little apprehensive about driving out in the fog even though I assured him over and over that fog is the least threatening of any type of inclement weather. Anyway, so a mere 10 seconds away from reaching my house decides that his phobia of fog is suddenly going to appear out of...thin air (no pun intended) and he turns around! He calls Melanie and we go BACK to his place, pick her up, and drive me back home -- all so he wouldn't have to drive home by himself in the "threatening" fog. Mind you it was about 2 in the morning. Oh yes, and he did wake her up. Wow.

about last night...

Well well, Friday night I hung out which those two chicas and their friend. I didn't think I could be so bored and have seemingly nothing to do when hanging out with three attractive girls...but I guess what I'm thinking about and what they are thinking about doing are probably on two completely different train of thoughts...ha ha. Actually it was raining a lot and we just parked in a random parking lot and talked for a while. A cop came up to us and thought we were all...well I think you can pretty much fill-in the blanks with anything. We kind of ignored his asinine questions but it kind of sucked for Katie because she had to roll down her window and her car has problems so she couldn't get it back up. Oh, did I mention it was raining? That was pretty much when we decided to call it a night. I was supposed to go to this big holiday party thing my cousin was throwing last night but I had to do a favor for a friend at work and cover his shift...eh. Speaking of work...I really should be getting ready to jet out of here...

Last night I hung out with Katie and Lin'an...more on that later... Posted by Hello

i think we got off on the wrong scheme...

Erica was right. That was quite possibly the ugliest color template I've ever seen. I don't even know why I let it sit for more than a minute....well, I think this one will be a little better.

the first post is always the hardest...

Well, I guess I'll give this online Dougie Howser-type inflection a go. This might be just another short-lived project by your's truly...or a beautifly crafted journal that both captivates and provokes all. Hmm...well, I can promise that this will be the most boring synopsis of one's daily life that you've ever read but that's not really my goal. Come to think of it I better go and make some goals...that's all for now folks...
