the constant: a great director + fantastic acting = great movie...

I thought this was almost definetly the best movie of the year. It's very easy to argue in it's favor and almost impossible to argue against it. Ralph Fiennes gives a superb performance as he always does and Rachel Weisz (OSCAR!) acts like I don't think I've EVER seen her act before. I was SO looking forward to seeing this movie when I heard that it was coming out for many reasons:

• The director, Fernando Meirelles, also directed The City of God in 2002 which for many reasons is one of my favourite movies of all time. Once you see the movie you can easily see why the director is definetly someone to anticipate greatness from...
• Ralph Fiennes: when he actually is in a serious movie (The English Patient, Sunshine, Schindler's List) and not a "movie" like....Maid in Manhattan....he does NOT dissapoint.
• The book is a wonderful and taut thriller that I've always liked and wondered if it could actually be pulled off on the big screen.

There's just not enough good that I can say about this movie. It's fantastic and everyone should see it. I'm done.
