the Queen of Hollywood...

Myrna Loy is absolutely stunning. I have to say, I do have a crush on this screen goddess. She plays her parts so brilliantly...she's smart, beautiful and VERY witty. They sure don't make them like they used to...if only a girl like Myrna existed today. Right now I'm watching one of her movies that I haven't seen...as per usual I have a ton of things I have to do today and TCM is keeping me from doing any of them. The movie is Stamboul Quest (1934) and it is directed by the incomprable Sam Wood. It has Myrna playing a Mata Hari-type spy that ends up falling for American George Brent [yea, I know...why would anyone fall for him?].
Wow, she looks really good with her hair up [sorry I don't have a picture to show].

They definitely don't make them like they used to. TCM is the best. I was watching The Women the other day-- one of the best ensemble cast movies ever. I hear they are remaking it with Sandra Bullock, Annette Bening, et al.
Oh no! You're right...they are actually remaking it. I don't believe that Sandra Bullock has done enough [or anything] as an actress to warrant constantly being cast in more and more movies. Ashley Judd, Uma Thurman, and Meg Ryan [along with Annette Bening] round up the cast.
It's being screenwritten and directed by Diane English...the creator of "Murphy Brown" and writer of several failed 90s TV series. This movie is going to be fantastic, amazing, and much better than the original*.
* = everything in italics is extreme sarcasm.
That is one fancy cast. I assume Uma will play Crystal. Sandra Bullock or Meg Ryan will play Mary. I can't imagine Diane English (or anyone) improving the screenplay. What are they going to do-- get divorced in Mexico instead or Reno? Throw a few men and swear words in there for good measure?
That reminds me, I saw The Women on Broadway a few years ago. It was mediocre, almost unbearable. Cynthia Nixon as Mary, Jennifer Tilly as Crystal, Rue McClanahan as the Countess. They kept the original screenplay, yet it managed to be a totally forgettable production.
Yeah, I have a feeling this movie will probably have the same impact as the Broadway production...
Uma has to play Crystal, that is pretty much a given. I can't wait to see what crazy modern twist they give to butcher the play. Oh, and I can't see this movie being done without men...unless they use it as a big big marketing gimmick.
